“When we do not have words to convey our sensations, feelings, or thoughts, we cannot simply 'name it to tame it'. But we can use implicit communication -- movement, rhythm, sound, image, enactment, and play -- to 'express it to address it'.
This is the transformative and restorative role of expressive arts, to provide a voice when language is unavailable or impossible.”
- Dr. Cathy Malchiodi, trauma-informed expressive arts therapist and researcher

Art Lessons & Classes
Art Lessons & Classes
At Creative Remedies, we believe art belongs to us all -- regardless of age, neurotype, or identity.
Our classes are geared toward the enjoyment and experience of creativity with a focus on self-expression and empowerment. Art is a powerful medium for all ages to learn about themselves, interact and connect with others, challenge themselves, express themselves, and relieve stress.
-
Sculpture/Clay Modeling: Students will build foundational skills in construction, armature, and basic anatomy to replicate objects/people/animals/creatures in the 3D world.
-
Mask Making: Students will design and construct wearable art that explores personal identity through visual storytelling.
-
Puppet Making: Students will practice their construction and storytelling skills- dreaming up characters and bringing them to life!
(All of the art projects listed above will require a wide range of mixed media like clay, paper mache, cardboard, wiring, acrylic paintings, glue and so much more!)
Led by art teacher and all-around creative, Simone Fohrman, your/your child's classes will take into consideration their needs and preferences.
