Our Story
Established in 2019, Creative Remedies, LLC is a holistic group therapy and education collective which offers mental health counseling, music therapy, play therapy, expressive arts therapy, adaptive/therapeutic music lessons, and traditional music lessons. We have an economic justice initiative which means that we do not turn clients and students away based on financial need. We are trauma-informed, neuro-affirming, gender-affirming, and work from both lived and professional experiences as a fully Neurodivergent staff.
We specialize in the intersection of Neurodiversity, Trauma, and Mental Health. Candidates with a background in mental health, trauma-informed care, neuro-affirming care, gender-affirming care, and lived experience are strong prospects for this position.
Job Description
​We are seeking a passionate and socially conscious Board-Certified Music Therapist to join our team and contribute to our economic justice initiative. In this role, you will have the opportunity to provide culturally responsive and inclusive music therapy services to individuals from underserved communities, while also advocating for systemic change to promote economic equity in mental health care. You will primarily work with individuals of all ages with varying mental health concerns, mostly related to trauma due to marginalization including, but not limited to: ableism, racism, antisemitism, homophobia, and transphobia. You will also have the opportunity to teach adaptive/therapeutic music lessons, traditional music lessons, lead on-site groups and/or lead community-based groups with community partners as you prefer or your position calls for. We currently have a waitlist of approximately 15 individual clients and music students all based in clinic and 2 community-based groups if the therapist is interested. Caseload to grow as we get anywhere from 2-10 inquiries per week.

Compensation is $30-$45+ per hour with 6 month probationary period commensurate with credentials and experience.

Most individuals are of ages 3-11 years old, but we serve all ages from infant through end of life. Examples of some identities served are: autistic individuals who also experience depression, ADHDers who also experience social anxiety, multiple neurodivergent identities who have experienced trauma, and more.

Requirements
- Provide individual and group music therapy sessions to clients from diverse backgrounds, including those facing financial hardship or systemic marginalization.
- Conduct comprehensive assessments to understand clients' unique needs, strengths, and cultural backgrounds.
- Develop culturally relevant and trauma-informed treatment plans that prioritize clients' autonomy, dignity, and self-determination.
- Collaborate with community organizations and advocacy groups to identify and address systemic barriers to mental health care, particularly those related to economic inequality.
- Participate in outreach and education efforts to raise awareness about the importance of mental health services and advocate for policies that promote economic justice and equitable access to care.
- Maintain accurate and confidential documentation of client sessions, progress notes, and treatment plans in accordance with ethical and legal standards.
- Engage in ongoing professional development and self-reflection to enhance cultural humility and effectiveness as a music therapist.
- Board certification (MT-BC) as a music therapist from the Certification Board for Music Therapists (CBMT).
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Music Therapy from accredited program (Master’s preferred).
- Position includes primarily working with children 3-11 years old at this time, specialty in pediatric music therapy emphasizing regulation, co-regulation, and the Neurodiversity Affirming Model/Approach is necessary.
- Demonstrated commitment to social justice, economic equity, and dismantling systemic barriers to mental health care.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a commitment to cultural humility, social justice, and advocacy.
- Experience working with individuals from diverse cultural, socioeconomic, and linguistic backgrounds, preferably in community-based or nonprofit settings.
- Knowledge of trauma-informed care principles and experience incorporating them into music therapy practice.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary team members, community partners, and advocacy organizations.
