Counseling/Psychotherapy
You might have an idea in your mind of what counseling or psychotherapy looks like from movies, TV shows, or pop culture. Rarely does it look this way in real life. Counseling and psychotherapy serves to provide you with insight, support, and a sounding board. It is confidential and evidence-based. Your sessions are tailored to your strengths and desired areas of improvement. The overarching goal of counseling/psychotherapy is to help you discover, implement, and live a life that is meaningful and fulfilling. You are unique and complex and this goal will look different in your life than it will in someone else's. That is why Creative Remedies offers an initial session at no cost to help you determine what is the best direction for your care.

Music Therapy
According to the American Music Therapy Association, music therapy is defined as "the clinical and evidence-based use of music interventions to accomplish individualized goals within a therapeutic relationship by a credentialed professional who has completed an approved music therapy program."
Music therapy is client-centered, utilizing the iso-principle to meet a client where tey are to serve them in the most efficacious and person-centered way. All ages are served by music therapy, but it will look different based on the uniqueness of the client -- age, strengths, needs, music preferences, and more.
Music therapy can, and does, address similar goals to other healthcare professionals in a way that emphasizes music as a central part of treatment -- the client, the therapist, and the music work in tandem to reach individualized goals. This could look like using singing or piano playing to re-train speech or fine motor movement after a brain injury. This could also look like songwriting or lyric analysis to reinforce counseling concepts for healing from depression, anxiety, and more.
Questions about music therapy, its effectiveness, and its application are not only allowed but welcome since it is difficult to conceptualize from simply a few paragraphs. Please contact Creative Remedies, LLC owner and board-certified music therapist, Anastasia Canfield, at Anastasia.MTBC@gmail.com or (720) 780-0111
